Sometimes it is the person or communities wish to remain at their place of death or come home for a period of time after death. This request is perfectly normal and something I can support through the use of a cooling bed.

The cooling bed assists in maintaining a low core temperature of the body to support the duration of time they are to be kept at home.

While the person is at home, family and community can gather to sit, reflect, wash, dress and care for their person however they choose.

How do I do this?

Once death has occurred and the decision has been made to keep someone in the care of home, it is best to have the cooling bed in place soon after. I am able to deliver the cooling bed to home, set it up, provide instruction and support and also be available to contact throughout the vigil should there be any questions or support needed.

How long can you keep someone at home?

In NSW it is legal to keep a persons body at home for up to 5 days. Though just as every life is different, so is their death and after death needs. The persons body as well as the feelings of those present will tell us how long they can remain at home.

Cooling bed is delivered to place of need, set up and instruction provided in person by me. Once deceased has been transferred from the home, cooling bed is collected.

Cooling bed is delivered to place of need, set up and instruction provided in person by me. I am then available to provide Doula support with vigil, guidance with washing, dressing and home based after death care and preparation to transfer from home.
